Air Force and local law enforcement officials will be in place at base entrances to enforce these rules. All individuals and vehicles entering the base are subject to search.
A: Due to heightened security requirements, containers such as backpacks, coolers, and Camelbacks or other similar backpack/liquid carrying devices will be prohibited on the airfield. Langley AFB works very closely with local and federal authorities to ensure safety. Langley AFB follows and enforces all security rules and regulations required. You will notice extra security at the air show, both military and civilian. All vehicles/personnel are subject to screening at any time. This includes explosive detection equipment. Vehicles used to carry explosive materials or chemicals should not be used for transportation to the Open House. Detection of these materials, even in a small amount or a residue, can result in an inconvenience to guests while standard protocols are followed.

Some exceptions will be made for items such as diaper bags, purses, and folding lawn chairs, but visitors must submit them to security personnel for an inspection. Weapons are strictly prohibited. Weapons include, but are not limited to, firearms, blades (including pocket knives), and blunt objects. Patrons with firearms will be asked to leave the installation or their weapons will be confiscated and will not be returned.
Q: If I cannot bring something in, can I go out to my car during the show?
A: Yes. Since the show has no admission fee, you may leave and re-enter as you desire. Anyone re-entering will have to go through security checkpoints again.
A: Small purses are permitted, subject to approval by gate security personnel and a hand-search at the security checkpoint. Large purses (tote bag type) are not permitted. Return to top of page
Q: Can I bring my camera/video camera/cell phone?
A: Yes. There are no security restrictions on these items. However, large camera bags are not permitted. Bring only necessary camera equipment, leaving extra attachments at home. A small fanny pack or camera vest is useful for carrying extra film and small lenses. Return to top of page
Q: Can I bring water, drinks and/or food?
A: We will not turn away anyone carrying drinks or food in their hands, but backpacks, coolers, and Camelbacks and other similar backpack/liquid carrying devices will not be permitted on the airfield. All items brought are subject to approval by gate security personnel and a hand-search at security checkpoint.
A: No pets are allowed, however Seeing-eye dogs will be permitted. Return to top of page
Q: I have small children. Can I bring a stroller/diaper bag/clothes change/etc.?
A: Yes. Strollers will be hand-searched at the security checkpoint. Please bring only necessary items in a small diaper bag, subject to hand-search at the security checkpoint. Large diaper bags will not be permitted. You can return to your vehicle during the show to get extra clothes, restock diaper items, etc.
A: Firearms, knives (including pocket knives and all purpose tools, i.e. leatherman), backpacks, camelbacks or other similar backpack/liquid carrying devices, coolers, and large bags. The following items are allowed but will be searched (purses, diaper bags if accompanying a child, camera bags, and lawn chairs).
A: Yes. If your folding chair is one of the types that comes in a carrying-case, please have it out for inspection. Return to top of page
Q: What if I need to go to the Commissary or BX while the air show is going on? What gate is best to enter?
A: Military members are asked to plan around air show traffic accordingly when using the Commissary and BX and that if they must use those facilities, to please use the LaSalle gate for access. They should also have their military ID out for the posted guard at the intersection of Neely Avenue and Tuskegee Boulevard.
Q: Will there be a handicap parking area close to the air show?
A: Handicap parking will be on the main parking ramp directly adjacent to the spectator entrance point. All visitors requesting handicapped parking sill be required to display a placard or proper license plate and will be directed by Security Forces to the appropriate handicapped parking lot. Depending where on the row you are parked, will determine how far the walk will be, but in most cases it will only be a few hundred feet or less. It is the closest parking area to the air show.
